Meeting of Styles in Yeumbeul, Senegal: When Graffiti Transforms the City

I had the immense honor of being invited by Brinks (Just Paint) to participate in a historic edition of Meeting of Styles (MOS): its very first foray onto the African continent, held in Yeumbeul, a suburb of Dakar, Senegal.

MOS is more than just a graffiti event. Founded in Germany in 1995, it is recognized as the world's largest graffiti festival, having brought together over 400 events, attracted 900,000 visitors, and engaged more than a million online users across over 30 countries. Participating in this African debut was a privilege, marking a turning point for the global street art scene.

A Wave of Color in Yeumbeul

The impact on the city of Yeumbeul was immediate and spectacular. Over the course of several days, more than 100 graffiti and street artists representing over 30 nationalities—from the United States to Colombia, Algeria to Brazil, and of course Senegal and France—joined forces to transform the urban landscape.

We literally altered the city's physical landscape by covering more than 100 walls. The goal was simple: to inject color and life into these often drab walls, offering the residents of Yeumbeul an open-air gallery—a lasting artistic legacy.
