"ALIBI" Project

In March 2019, my artistic endeavors took me to Iraqi Kurdistan, specifically the Erbil region, for a distinct project titled "ALIBI." This initiative combined the creation of murals with the artistic reinterpretation of road signs. I produced two works on the walls of the French Consulate: the first depicted Jules Verne’s Nautilus being seized by a giant squid, while the second—symbolizing the Persian New Year (Nowruz)—showed a tiger devouring a horse. I also painted this latter image, free of charge, on the exterior wall of my hotel. Additionally, I painted a mural of a cat on a ruined structure in an alleyway, using only the few spray-paint colors available locally (blue, yellow, orange, white, and black); this forced me to get creative given the limited color palette.
